With two children under the age of three, the O'Brien family was quickly outgrowing their 950-square-foot, two-bedroom home. Their needs required an open, entertainer’s kitchen, additional bedrooms and bathrooms, and separate guest quarters. After examining the local housing marketing, it became clear that the best economic choice was to tear down their existing, single-story home and build a brand new, two-story house that maximized the 6,000-square-foot lot within city codes.
Conduit Development hired the very reputable Roger Peter Porter architectural firm to design the O’Brien’s dream home. The 3,500-sq.-ft. design includes an open kitchen with views of a multimedia entertainment center for the husband, an avid cook and sports fan who loves to entertain. A downstairs private master suite, jack-and-jill kid’s rooms, and a guest suite were further incorporated to meet the family’s needs. In addition, the exterior of the home was designed to complement the 1950s neighborhood while showcasing a contemporary touch. The residence is expected to be completed in December 2007.
Throughout the process, the O’Brien family has been closely involved in every aspect of the design and construction of their new dream home. This is where the family will raise their children, entertain family and friends, celebrate special holidays and ultimately even welcome aging parents. As a result, every design concept and detail needs to be perfect. Conduit Development has worked with the family as friends and partners every step of the way to ensure that their dreams are fully realized.
